From Dave: Herbert Currie Pangborn was born 19 Oct 1925 to George Herbert Pangborn and his wife Amy Curry. His dad was the manager of the American Can plant, a Simcoe Rotarian, and a member of the Norfolk General Hospital board.

Herb entered the RCAF in 1944 and spent the last year of the war stationed in Great Britain, where he was injured in a plane crash returning from a mission. He married Marjorie (Madge) Tindale of Tillsonburg in 1950.
They had four children: Brant (who died 2001), Lynne, David and Robert. Herb stayed in the air force until his retirement in 1976 when he moved from Nova Scotia to Kingston, becoming a real estate appraiser and antiques dealer. He still lives there and is active driving cancer patients to hospital visits, assisting as a police volunteer, and working out at the YMCA with friends from his Widows & Widowers group. He attended the Dieppe ceremonies in 2005 and was honored by the commander of the Royal Dutch Air Force as one of a few dozen surviving veterans issued a special commemorative medal.
