Ruth
arrived in Canada with her birth family, 2 Jun 1879. Joseph learned
harness making from his father and moved to Simcoe to practice. He
bought the business of retiring Frank Brown in 1898 and conducted
his trade at 14 Kent St., where he also sold leather products,
repaired shoes and auto tires. Joseph served several years as an
Alderman, and ran for Mayor the year before he died. They had
no issue.

the same era]
