| The Norfolk Historical Society has
more historic Norfolk newspapers on microfilm than any other archive. Send
them your snail mail address, $5 and the newspaper code at the end of
the newspaper entry you are interested in, and they will snail mail you a
photocopy of that particular record.
Why would you want to do that? Accuracy and completeness for starters. To keep this index growing, too. The information online is just a summary of the data originally published. The original typically provides more information than our online summaries, which are not full transcriptions. Routinely omitted data includes marrying official (which provides clues where to look for subsequent baptisms, cause of death, names of witnesses, place of burial, names of those who attended). Moreover, because the Norfolk Historical Society typically (not always) realizes a few pennies profit from each order, your photocopy purchases help fund the organization that originally made B-M-D Etc. possible. In these days of funding cutbacks and economic downturn, your financial support is no small consideration. Photocopies of all newspaper articles indexed in B-M-D Etc. are available from the Society. To order, mail the source document
code found between square brackets at the end of each entry -- such as :
[SR18790123p4] -- plus the name and event sought (i.e. John Doe, birth)
-- and your cheque or money order (payable to Norfolk Historical Society)
